Position Summary

We are seeking candidates who are exceptional, innovative, and passionate military analysts who want to grow with us. You will be on the ground floor of a new effort to design, develop, test, and employ an effects-based simulation toolkit. This is a rare opportunity to create tools to generate viable data for use in analysis to inform national security decisions. You will balance several lines of effort in a fast-paced environment requiring planning and executing tasks to meet multiple deadlines and with competing demands for resources. The senior analyst must be able to understand and meet current customer needs, constraints, and resources while anticipating the direction and level of future analytical support requirements as well as software development and IT-system requirements.

The chosen candidate will be employed on a full-time basis, primarily at government offices in Fort Belvoir, VA. This position offers some flexibility for a hybrid work schedule, depending on project requirements. The person in this role will be a liaison between users and developers to support the development of modeling and analysis software tools, and integration into a common environment for Joint and Army campaign analysis.

This is an exciting and rare opportunity to develop new software tools and create major enhancements to existing software. The role requires creativity and flexibility of software programming to support innovation and enhancement requirements of the larger program objectives. In this role, the candidate must be able to manage a team to analyze user needs, conceptualize solutions, determine the feasibility of design, and know how to apply new technologies to allow for improvement to existing or development of new critical software applications within our client organization.

What You’ll Do:

  • Lead development and employment of modeling and simulation analysis tools, algorithm updates, and software updates. Tools support operational campaign analysis and force structure allocation to inform decisions on Army force development and readiness.
  • Evaluates all project aspects, including design, development, execution, and implementation of advances in computer science, data science, and cloud computing approaches.
  • Identifies capability needs and traces solution recommendations for project and product-level development priorities. Connects project requirements to modernization priorities, Data as a Service approaches, Modeling and Simulation as a Service technique, and Digital Engineering design principles.
  • Develops and implements multi-year model maintenance and development plans.
  • Travel. Minimal travel is anticipated. Some local travel in the Washington DC, National Capital Region is anticipated to support coordination across DoD organizations and Services.

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in science, technology, engineering, or mathematics (STEM).
  • 10+ years of experience in military operations analysis spanning:
    • Campaign analysis.
    • Force structure design.
    • Project management, conducting and directing studies.
    • Quantitative methods, data analysis, knowledge management.
  • Military operational planning
  • Two or more years of experience with multidomain operations doctrine planning.
  • Demonstrated ability to work both autonomously as well as with large and small teams.
  • Ability to think critically (i.e., research, understand, analyze, synthesize, and critique), creating solutions to new and one-of-a-kind program challenges and issues as they arise.
  • Communication skills with senior executives, General/Flag officers in the Department of Defense.
  • U.S. Citizen
  • Active Secret Clearance and ability to receive a TS clearance with SCI eligibility.

Desired Qualifications:

  • MS, especially in Operations Research, Operations Analysis, Decision Analytics, or other technical, quantitative discipline (STEM).
  • Experience with Department of Defense operational campaign-level analytical tools.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification, Defense Acquisition University equivalent, or demonstrated project management experience.
  • TS, SCI-eligible clearance
